Columbia SC Photographer | Gorgeous Mommy and Me Photography

If I would have tried to get this anymore perfect, I don’t think I could have. This baby girl was the most photogenic little one I have ever photographed. She was all smiles and joy, a willing participant in these photos at such a young age. She is about 8 months old and full of curiosity. I don’t usually get them so compliant, however I cannot remember ever having a session that did not go well. Most of the time the little one is upset at some point and mom nervously tries to get him/her to settle just hoping for one good shot. And ALWAYS I tell you, she is surprised and beyond excited to know that I got way more great photos than she ever thought possible. It requires patience and willingness to pay close attention and read these little people.

I love it. Its a hard and sweaty job but I would never have it any other way. I love everything about it. The building a setup, putting together a session, wardrobe, painting a new backdrop, editing, creating- all of it is an incredible experience for me and for them.

From beginning to end, on average, I spend about four hours preparing for a session. The session itself takes one to three hours depending on makeup etc. The retouching will take me anywhere from four to eight hours to complete so you could safely say there is a ton of hidden time put into photographs that are customized. Even though so much of my time and work goes into post processing, I enjoy watching it come together and feel like my efforts are worth it all. Hand retouching individually is a big undertaking when you’re looking at maybe 40 images. I do not batch edit. Even when I do the occasional lifestyle session, I still end up hand retouching each one individually but not to the extent that I do with my portrait work. Each piece is a true work of art.

When I see the joy on my clients faces during their session, the laughs, the excitement coupled with the happiness of seeing their images for the first time, I know I made the right decision with doing in person consults, reveals. This is the way I work. Not much in life is this rewarding, so I picked the right job for me.
