Girls ages 10-18 are soaking up the entire world like a sponge. Let’s be honest, most of what is out there is not sending positive messages to them. We need five positive comments for every negative one. I am certain none of us are getting that.
Our daughters deserve so much more! And let’s face it, they are the next generation of mothers, teachers, business owners, doctors, and builders of the future. Don’t we owe them the very best start? I have always had a heart for young women.
Beauty is such a huge part of every girl’s world. This never leaves us, long into adult hood, we still long to be beautiful. Redefining beauty is essential to acceptance.
I am raising my very own young lady right along side you. Three years has passed since this photo in the blink of an eye. Before I know it, she will be moving out on her own and figuring herself out in this world. I want her to feel empowered, not hopeless.
Our girls will grow up in this generation with only the tools that we give them.
Years ago in my CIU days, I worked with Daybreak as my practicum program and through this counseling experience I was able to meet so many young women who had not experienced the unconditional love and guidance that a mother gives. Many of them just needed someone to talk to and be heard. Many were wanting someone to tell them that they are valuable and they are enough. I never knew at that point if I would ever have a daughter but I knew that if I did, she would never have to wonder if she was beautiful. I was determined that she would know she is irreplaceable.
