40 and Flawlessly Fabulous
We all want to stay young forever, don’t we? Every woman I have photographed has mentioned this at one point or another. We can all relate. One thing that I have studied in depth is skincare. If I had a nickel for every person who didn’t believe me when I said I am 43, I would be a very wealthy woman indeed.
With skin care, you have to be real careful because we are being pulled a hundred different ways with all the options and none seem to work but all claim to. Today, I am going to give you an unbiased recommendation on a few products that I have personally used and recommended to many people. I believe in them so much that I began promoting them with an amazon affiliate link because why not? If I put in the time to research, pay for , and test these products why shouldn’t I get a small piece of that money back and feed my family with it? These products are as natural as we can get, no PEGS, no artificial fragrances, nothing harmful.
Tried and True Beauty
Here are the goods I have found to be worthy.
This advice works best when you are also fueling your body from the inside. Rule 1 is, get enough protein! Rule 2, don’t do sugar and alcohol (I know, I know). Seriously though, both of those ruin your skin and stress out your body and gut. Get at least four days of 30+ minute workouts each week, sleep well, and drink lots of water. Sure, collagen supplements can help but they aren’t magic. If you do wish to add a Collagen Peptide Supplement, I recommend this one as it is gentle on my stomach. Nutrelo is the best brand of supplements that I have found.
Now for the products I use and can attest to their goodness. Depending on your skin issues from dry skin to wrinkles, you can pull together a great regimen right here. I love keeping up with a great skin care routine and do it every single night. Some nights I spend a little more time than others and mornings vary. My first product I use is the FarmHouse Fresh, Silky Milk Cleansing Balm. This stuff just glides right on and melts into your skin washing away impurities and makeup. Now, it does leave your skin so soft and moisturized BUT I like to go back over with a cleansing toner just to be sure all the makeup is removed because the texture of the balm is so buttery than I feel like some makeup could be left behind. We should double-cleanse anyway though. I like to switch it up between The Ordinary, Glycolic Acid Toner, and micellular water. The glycolic toner can be used a couple times a week but I really would not do it more than that because while it is great at removing dead skin cells, you just don’t want to strip away all the good oils in your skin barrier. There are two other wonderful products I also recommend in the link for the ordinary. The hyularonic acid and vitamin C serum, so it’s a 3 for ONE! The HA will attach to moisture in your skin and plump it! Make sure you use it right after washing the face. The vitamin c is not only an antioxidant but also lightens age spots and reverses some of the UV skin damage you already have. Now, that said, I cannot mention the vitamin C serum without mentioning the Ordinary’s Niacinamide, it’s a work horse for the complexion! I have been told so many times that my complexion is amazing. I’ll take it! This will do similar work as the vitamin C because it lightens and evens dark spots and corrects damage. Most importantly, it just blends that complexion together seamlessly. Talk about a milk and honey glow, this is it!
Repairing old damage can be more difficult than that, so we are stepping off the Ordinary train and moving on to more powerful treatments. Everyone loves their retinoids and such, I get it. I have used Tretinoin for years but never really got through the irritation of it. Just constantly peeling and red, it wasnt very attractive. Then last year, I moved on to something that works just the same way but causes almost no irritation and that is Bakuchiol! It’s plant derived and it really does work. I have used two brands and this is the one I would recommend Bakuchiol Serum first simply because the other I use is one that needs to be mixed with a cream since it is super concentrated. I can honestly say I have seen this one really work though. It does have an occasional gentle peeling effect but nothing as harsh as retinoids and without the redness. Highly recommend.
Moisturization is very important as well so if you want to add either a nice oil like rose hip or marula to your final step, that will really give you a nice glow when you wake up in the morning. Get plenty of rest! Night time is when everything renews and heals.
